It is possible to cross between the Rees valley and the Earnslaw Burn via
an unmarked route over the Lennox Pass (1695m). See Moir's Guide North (2013) p.62.
From the Rees valley, leave the track to Kea basin at about 650m, and traverse bush and scrub
to reach a cairn overlooking the Lennox creek canyon at about 820m.
Follow cairns to the creek (steep descent) and across the creek at
about 800m. Climb the spur next to Lennox creek (more scrub) until there is a view
of the route to the pass (about 900m). Cross the two creeks
marked on the map at about 1000m and 1100m, and climb to the pass.
When descending from the pass to the Rees, cross the creek below the pass at about
1400m and sidle left to avoid a line of small cliffs below the basin.
